We're both second year vaulters holding on the back of a 13' 160 lb. pole. I'm 5'6" 130 lbs. and the second guy is about 5'10" 150 lbs. The top bungee is at 12 feet. We've got districts this weekend and want desperately to be getting 12 easy.

The first guy i think you plant way too soon.
The second probably should to stop pumping the pole during run.

Vaulter 1 is planting too early. Running the last 3 steps with your arms already above your head is slowing you down.
I would drop your grip about 3 inches as well. It looks like you have the standards pulled way forward. Drop your grip 3 inches and move the standards all the way back and I think you will be able to time up with the pole better.
Vaulter 2 is barely getting in the pit at all. Drop his grip 6 inches and see how that goes. The pole might not bend a lot, but I am assuming you don't have too many other to choose from. He'll jump higher if he learns how to vault properly on a straight pole, than if he just tries to see how high he can grip and sit over the bar on a bent pole.

there's a 13 foot 150 pole that he was using but we were both crushing it.
