Actually, it would only be 3 years old if you didn't keep bumping it. :D

And only 1 year old if myself and ECVaulter30 didn't bump it in 2008. :D

But that was a very good year for this thread, and 23 pages later, it's still a very sold thread! Not many other threads have gone on for 23 pages!

One of the best threads ever on PVP...had forgotten about it. There are about 5 or 6 original posts on PVP by Agapit that are the real deal and should be read at least once a year for affirmation. On one hand the simplicity is beautiful and on the other mind blowing. Thanks for the great information Roman!!!

thanks vaultman!

The reason I have published this post is because I have calculated, that the record was set by Bubka just high enough, so athletes who are using older methods of vaulting would have to run 0.2-0.3 m/s faster then he did in order to get to his record. Now that is about 10.0-10.2 m/s just a bit faster then Lavillenie running today. It is not impossible that there will be an athlete who runs 10.0-10.2 m/s and sets the WR using the old method, but I do not see anyone with that speed today. The fastest guys are 9.6-9.8, so it is safe to assume that the record is somewhat safe for now.

But I love this funny post! It is hillarious! It is very unlikelly that we would go for 27 years of jumping 19 feet and I include 19' 11 3/4" in to that category. And if we do go for 27 years (8 years left to 27 years counting from 1994, last time Bubka cleared 20') of under 20' jumping I would be very disappointed.

I am doing my part http://www.m640.com

Cheers!
