I am having trouble completely inverting on my jumps and staying close to the pole, How can I improve my swing and stay closer to the pole as I push off at the end of the jump?

First, read my posts in the thread titled "How to "go up - not out"? Roll the pole! It's basic physics!". You can find it by searching for "kirk basic physics".

Your style of vaulting is quite a bit like Jason Colwick's! An extreme double-leg swing!

I'm not going to say this is bad technique, because Colwick has cleared 5.72 this way.

The laws of physics are still identical - regardless of a vaulter's technique.

So my "basic physics" advice is still 100% true for you.
