'Air Strike' pole vault technique?

'Air Strike' pole vault technique?

I was surfing through some vaulting videos on YouTube and came across a bunch of videos from what looks like the 80's or 90's called Air Strike pole vault technique. Does this work? Is it used? Is it bulls***? I can't find any demonstrations of the technique, so I'm thinking that it's the pole vault equivalent of those bogus penis enlargement pills you see in ads on Redtube. What are your thoughts?
