Hand-slippage

Unread postby theflyingkorean » Wed Mar 12, 2003 10:45 pm

My bottom hand slips about 3 in on every vault while the top stays just fine. Does anyome have any stregnthing tips/ secrets/ ideas on how to keep my hand from slipping? I know that there is the double sided sticky tape and the spray for current tape, but I haven't gotten the time or $$$ as a HS vaulter to get any. Let me know if you've got some tips please :D

My guess is that you are not pressing the pole up with your hands. Instead you may be jamming that bottom arm wich puts a ton of pressure and shear force on your hands. I don't use any tape on the bottom and it's no problem, infact I cann't say I notice ony pressure on my bottom arm, in fact I barley grip the pole w/ my bottom hand, it's all about pressing the pole up above your head. Or, your not jumping at your take off, and getting ripped off the ground. The sticky stuff may sound like a great quick fix. But, I would look at fixing the problem in tech. because you are going to have to address that sooner than latter. :crying:

Great advice, thanks! My coach just spotted it yesterday. I think I may be levering it too much.
