Specific Help Moving Poles

Unread postby Sheridan101 » Wed May 01, 2013 10:37 pm

As the title suggests, I need some specific help on moving to a bigger pole. I'm fairly confident I have gotten all that I can get out of my current pole but I will give some stats of my current situation:
Me:
My weight fluctuates from about 142-145. I run a 12.5 100 if that gives an idea of my speed.
Poles:
I'm using a 13' 150lb pole. I also have a 13' 145, 13' 170, and a 14' 150.
My problem:
The issue is that I'm blowing through my 13' 150 (which is what I generally use). I have cleared 12' on it with about a 12' 6" hand grip (any higher and the bend starts to get REALLY bad). I haven't tried to get on the 170 because my coach said it isn't a good idea so that is why we borrowed the 14' 150 from another school. And now I'm trying to get on it and am having serious problems. I get no penetration into the pit. I end up back on the runway almost every time. I have tried holding at a 13' grip and at the top with the same result... Please help!

I am currently at 6 steps, I can successfully vault at 5 though.
