HS coach fired for male athletes not wearing shirts

Is this really an issue at many high schools, particularly when pertaining to boys? It seems very odd, especially on hot days or for long distance runners.

This is so stupid! I mean really? Who cares if the guys want to run with no shirt? They do not make guys on the swim team wear full body suits! When I was in high school no one ever wore a shirt when it was hot outside. And at the college level the guys never wear shirts and the girls train in sports bras.

If a athletic director/principal/super intendant thinks that shirtless male runners is an issue then he has some serious problems. I mean the dance teams and cheer leaders at most schools are usually dressed in less and are far more sexually suggestive than any athlete could ever be. Unless this is a religious school that does not allow men to be seen in public without a shirt on then I think this is pretty much a load of bull.

At our high school in Oklahoma, If a girl can't go without a shirt then a guy cannot either. We had a problem with this issue a few years back. It has a name. Humm

Then make the rule consistent among all sports and all aspects of life... And if you wanna make things 'equal' then make all the uniforms the same for all the sports and lets give women a bigger basketball and heavier shot while we are at it... as much as people want to argue it, when it comes to some things, you just cant make some things equal. Because you could reverse that rule and be like, ok girls you can go without a shirt, but no one would do it (most likely).

I do not make the rules, I do not have to like the rules, but I have to go by them or get gone.

dumbest rule i have ever heard of im a runner and pole vaulter and i do both without a shirt with no complaints or second guesses. there has to be more to this story then this coach getting fired just for this rule.
