Murer over Pyrek

Fabiana Murer apparently likes to do accomplish things in pairs. At the Grande Prêmio Brasil/Caixa de Atletismo in May, the 25-year-old Brazilian twice improved the South American record, first to 4.50 than again to 4.55. Under the bright Mediterranean skies here, she duplicated her feat, first with a third attempt success at 4.61, then again with a third attempt clearance at 4.66 to land herself near the event's international elite.

Poland's Monika Pyrek was perfect in four jumps through 4.61, but couldn’t manage 4.66, and finished second. Germany’s Silke Spiegelburg cleared a personal best 4.56 to finish third ahead of American Jennifer Stuczynski who topped out at 4.51.

Two meets in two days - too much?

On saturday Jenn Stuczyski cleared 4.66 under fairly ugly conditions (cold, wind & rain) in Birmingham, England. But on sunday, under what looked like pretty good conditions, she went out 10cm lower in Monaco. So was two meets in two days, 750 miles apart, just too much for Jenn, or was it something else? I know she wasn't the only athlete to compete in both meets - Silnov, the Russian HJer also did both, but he won 'em both. Of course there are some "issues" with flying out of England these days, and I read somewhere that British Airways had "lost" something like 10,000 pieces of luggage in the last week and a half. Did her poles make it to Monaco?

10cm difference? I think most elites would give their baby toe for that consistency.

I guess I sort'a misspoke (mistyped, misthought, whatever). She cleared 4.66 on Saturday, but only 4.51 on Sunday, so it was really 15 cents. But you're saying that's within the normal day-to-day deviation that we should expect from folks at her level, without needing to look for any concrete cause?
