7:52 Evidently Zhou will be attempting 4.41 next.
7:59 Zhou misses her first attempt at 4.41. The site says 4.30 is already her PB. What's the Chinese national record?
8:03 2nd miss at 4.41.

What a GREAT competition!! Nice evening. Very little wind. GREAT crowd.
Volik just wasnt running. I think she knew it, as she stopped mid-run several times. Her third attempt was a time-out at 4.20.
Parnov looked good, but the Slovenian Sutej just had more spark in her tonight.

Zhou captures pole vault title
2006-08-19
CHINA'S Zhou Yang took the women's pole vault crown at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing yesterday.
The 18-year-old Zhou leapt over 4.30 meters to tie her personal best created in Zheng-zhou, Hebei Province, in May.
"It was a par performance. I was not at my best today," Zhou said. "Thank you all for your support and I want to meet you here again during the Beijing Olympics."
Tina Sutej of Slovenia took the silver in 4.25 which is a Slovenian junior record, while Vicky Parnov from Australia finished third in 4.20.

Zhou’s gold but the world will hear from Volik again
Russia missed out on what prior to these championships had seemed a likely gold medal in the women’s Pole Vault. 16-year-old Valeriya Volik, who set a World Youth best of 4.40m in Kazan on 8 July, the best performance by a junior this year, could go not better than 4.10m tonight. There is no doubting that we will hear a lot more of Volik, who is coached by Yelena Isinbayeva’s former trainer, Yevgeniy Trofimov.
Up at the sharp end of the final tonight was China’s Yang Zhou who won gold with 4.30m, with a Slovenian national junior record of 4.25m securing silver for Tina Sutej, and 15-year-old Vicky Parnov of Australia, the niece of 2000 Olympic silver medallist Tatiana Grigorieva, taking bronze (4.20m).
