Stuczynski vaults to win

7/17/2006

Jen Stuczynski's first European track and field meet was one for the record books. Competing in the 17th International Meeting in Lignana, Italy, the Fredonia native broke the meet record in the pole vault. Stuczynski cleared 14 feet, 10 inches to shatter the previous record of 14-51/2 held by Janine Whitlock of Great Britain.
"She's on fire," said her coach, Rick Suhr of Rochester. "She's won the three biggest track meets in the United States. Jen hands down is the best pole vaulter in America, not by a little, but by a lot."

Stuczynski's next meet is Friday in Greece.

We would like to state that there were some misquotes in these articles and would like to make it known of what was actually said.

I was flat out misquoted. I have been miquoted more than quoted correctly, as anyone knows who deals with media. I told the paper that "Jenn is one of the best jumpers in America, she has improved a lot." As for my opinion, Jenn has a long way to go and there are 4 or 5 other great Americans who can beat us any day. We are just one member of a competitive group of American women vaulters. As for the best, easilly, it is Stacey Dragilia until someone breaks her record. This is not the first time i have been misquoted, and I'm sure it wont be the last.
