Jeng started at 5,50m and cleared on first attempt. He secured victory with his 5,70m (the same height with which he won a silver medal at the world indoor champs). His poles were so soft at the conclusion of his 5,70m jump, that he took a never been used before pole to try clearing 5,80m. He stated (SVT) that he had a hard time finding his rythm with the new pole.
