From today's results in the Francophone Games, being held in Naimey, Nigeria:

Women's Pole Vault:

1 Kelsie Hendry (CAN) 4.15
2 Syrine Balti (TUN) 4.05
3 Amelie Delzenne (FRA) 3.95
4 Elise Duboquet (FRA) 3.85
5 Adrianne Vangool (CAN) 3.85
6 Sue Kupper (CAN) 3.60
7 Nisrine Dinar (MAR) 3.40
8 Caroline Jean (CAN) 3.40

I'd be interested in learning something of the conditions, since these eight vaulters averaged 33 centimeters below their seasonal bests and none recorded a new SB.

NIAMEY, Nigeria- Kelsie Hendry of Saskatoon and Whitney Evans of Calgary each won a gold medal in track and field competition Monday at the Francophone Games. Canada has won five medals total so far in track and field at the Games held every four years.

In the women’s high jump, Evans cleared 1.83 metres for the gold medal with Andreea Ispan of Romania second, also at 1.83. Evans got the gold because she needed fewer attempts to clear the height. Beatrice Lundmark of Switzerland was third at 1.79.

“I was very happy with the performance, it was one of my best showings,â€Â
