He said he was still uneasy with his injured foot (it was not striking from his jumps in Shangai), and it should be OK by the end of the month.

So the Eugene meeting at the end of the month should be interesting, and I think he will run on 20 steps there, instead of 16 in Shangai.

By the way, about 2 months ago, there was a very interesting interview of Lavillenie in lequipe.fr

May be I will translate the main parts if I get some spare time.

The newspaper played a bad trick on Renaud, with a big title
"The is Bolt, and then me"
when in fact Renaud said
"for the metings in France, there is Bolt, and then me. Top athletes such as David Rudisha, Aries Merritt, Ashton Eaton are not well-known from the french public".

Welcome back, time to tune back in to the international scene. Wouldn't it be great to get 3 household names in Track and Field at the same time !

Hi folks !
Tomorrow in France on TV, a report about Renaud which already makes the buzz on the net.
For French language understanders here is the teaser : http://vimeo.com/96059357
I'll try to catch it for you... waiting for Eugene next week. ;)

(The tittle is "Lavillenie, l'affanchi", which means roughly "Lavillenie, the unfettered" with a pun : "l'affranchi"="the unfettered" but can be heard like "l'a franchi"="passed it")

I'm watching it...
Some words from Bubka himself will hurt a lot of Petrov's model absolute believers here I think... ;)
Hope to be abble to show this report soon.

You can get it from
http://pluzz.francetv.fr/videos/doc_24_ ... 37880.html

you will need Captvty (captvty.fr) if you want to download it (it will be available only during a week), a french IP, and put it in the
"module de téléchargement manuel"

Funny to see Thierry Vigneron, with the same hair (except it is grey now), and Jean Galfione.

2nd win in Diamond League for Renaud in Eugene : 5.80 m... not bad but not yet technicaly well setted with his 20 steps run.

That 5.80 clearance style is reminiscent of one of Bubka's early World Records, and not in a good way LOL

I agree with you...
Since he's been out for a month and a half, he lost a bit of his muscle mass. He's visibly not physicaly ready for high performances yet with his own style.
We can see in his 5.80 trial that his last 4 steps are inefficient : he doesn't speed up, breathes out with pain and drops down his shoulders.
Because he's not core tighten enough, his swing is too slow and made with a sort of single leg style to succeed in spining.
We can see also that he drops the pole too soon (look at this image below) because he lacks power in his arms.

But I think he'll be back high soon with more power training.

In 6 hours now, we'll see if RL trained enough to overcome (Fanny Blankers-Koen Games)...
