Adrianne Vangool beats own Canadian junior record in women's pole vault

Sat Jul 24,11:31 PM ET

SASKATOON (CP) - Adrianne Vangool of Saskatoon smashed her national junior record in the women's pole vault, while Richard Adu-Bobie of Ottawa prepared for the Olympics by winning the men's 100 metres Saturday at the Canadian junior track and field championships.

Vangool cleared 4.10 metres to eclipse the mark of 4.01 she set last year. She clinched the gold by clearing 3.80 on her second attempt, then matched her old mark on her first try at 4.01. The bar was raised to 4.10 and she cleared it on her first attempt before missing three times at 4.15.
