Does anyone think Lavillenie will be healthy up to the 2016 Olympics. Or will he turnout like Hooker. Just curious to know.
Your only as good as your last jump.

He's been super healthy so far, it seems like his injuries have been things like hurting his hand because the pole broke, or twisting his ankle. Not the chronic stuff that tends to destroy careers. Hopefully his good health continues!

good morning

he will be just fine if he keeps his run "on" and doesn't "stretch" into the takeoff....

when pole vaulters are at that level... it comes down to the run..

correct run, correct stride length and frequency, leads to a correct plant and swing... correct pole and grip..

Hooper included..

maybe it was just in the wording of the post, but its not like steve hooker fell of the face of the earth after 2008. The guy jumped 6.06 and was unbeatable in 2009, winning world champs with 3 jumps (2 finals, 1 prelims), and won the indoor world champs in 2010 with a 6.0m jump. The unfortunate truth is that in an event as unpredictable as this, trying to even venture a guess 3 and a half years out is pretty tough! My only thing is that since he is a smaller guy, and isn't winding up 10.x and 11.x poles, his body has a better chance. Of course jeff hartwig jumped on those poles til he was 40. so my thought may not have any merit.
