Anika Becker?

Unread postby Barto » Wed Feb 11, 2004 9:42 am

Track and Field News is reporting that Becker injured her neck this week when she missed the pit during training. She is said to be out for all of 2004. Does anyone have any confirmation of her condition?

Does anyone else get from that, that she did land on the mat after breaking a pole, but just landed awkwardly on her neck?

In a practice session on monday the pole broke during a jump. as a result Annika Becker
fall in a unfortunate way down on the mattress, that she has a cervical vertebra injury
now.
her coach Thomas Weise said, that it is improbable that she will finish the indoor
season.
this is a hard blow to her because she would have had good chances to be successful and
win a medal at the indoor world championship in Budapest.
just last week she showed all that she is in a good shape because she set up a new
german indoor record with 4,68 meters.
