After Isinbayeva . . .

Following Stuczynski's withdrawal from the USA team at the world championships because of an achilles injury, I wondered whether she had competed in any meets after the achilles had bothered her during the national championships in Eugene on 28 June. A quick search of the USA Elite folder on PVP didn’t yield an answer, so I checked Mirko Jalava’s performance file (tilastopaja.org) and found no further competitions shown for her.
An interesting finding for me in Mirko’s rankings file was how very close are the heights of the next four vaulters after Isinbayeva’s world best (and world record) of 5.06 at Zurich this weekend. These are:
#2 Murer BRA 4.82
#3 Stuczynski USA 4.81
#4 Rogowska POL 4.80
#5 Pyrek POL 4.78
That’s four centimeters, or about an inch and a half, separating those vaulters’ seasonal bests!
