Birmingham, UK - January 25th 2004

North closing in on top ranking in the UK

Christian North continued his excellent start to the winter with a clearance of 5.00m to take out the Men's pole vault at the NIA, Birmingham open meeting on Sunday.

Competing in the open division meant a 2 hour wait before his first jump, but Christian kept his composure together to record his best jump of the year so far, and he is still using a short approach.

"With my new ESSX poles I am able to work run ups much better than I could before, and this is allowing me to still be experimenting this weekend before moving up to full run for the National Championships in a couple of weeks.", said Christian after the como.

At the National Championships North, who is currently ranked 4th best in the UK, will come up against fellow ESSXSport pole vaulter and CMS member Keith Higham. Keith is currently ranked one place above Christian in the UK.
