I was curious how he died at such a young age, and also wanted to see what it said about his career, so I tried a free online translator, but to no avail.

I believe this is German - not Finnish - so if anyone is able to briefly translate this for us, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

The free online German --> English translator translates word-for-word far too much to make much sense.

It says that he died December 22 at his home in Tampere, but it hadn't been made known until now.

This is part of a google translation of the web page.

With him is like Herms(,) Lehtonen and the cause of death still unknown. Lehtonen was regarded as an outsider, after his career had alcohol problems.

Basically it seems to be saying all three of these athletes have died and their cause of death is unknown. The last sentence is fairly understandable however.
