The second-year arts and science student claimed his first CIS gold with a vault of 5.35m, five centimetres shy of the Fieldhouse record of 5.40m - a mark Wurster set at the McGill Open January 25. He bettered the 2007 CIS champion, Sherbrooke’s David Foley, by five centimeters (5.30m), and Saskatchewan Huskies vaulter Taylor Petrucha (5.05m).

Wurster finished the 2007-08 CIS track and field season ranked as the No.1 pole vaulter. His best vault of the year came on February 8 at the Randall Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas.

Thanks for posting that Becca. Usually CIS isn't very competitive, but my friend from Quebec had a 20cm pr and was beating me until I jumped 5.35m. He jumped 5.30m first attempt.

Thank you! That was the longest competition I have ever competed in. Started the warm up at 4pm and took my first jump at 10pm.
