Competitions in June in BC, Canada

Unread postby Powervaulter » Sun Apr 22, 2007 1:25 pm

Well, it's that time of year again, where we all get amped up for the outdoor season. Here are some of the big meets coming up in BC, with websites so you can go for more information. The last couple of years, we've had the folks from Saskatoon out here, as well as some vaulters from China, Washington and Oregon. We'd love to see others come out too! Prize money listed below is in Canadian dollars, and is subject to change. Contact the meet directors for more details.

Wednesday, June 6th: Victoria International
Prize money depends on the field... if we only have Canadians, it's pretty minimal... about the same as the Abbotsford International. If we have an International field, it will be around $1000 for 1st, $750 for 2nd, and $500 for third.
Events: Men's and Women's

Friday, June 8th: Harry Jerome
Prize money yet to be determined. Usually it's only for the top 10 performances for the entire meet, compared on the Mercier table.
Events: Women's only probably, but I'm working on getting the men's back.

Sunday, June 10th: Abbotsford International
$150 for 1st
$100 for 2nd
$50 for 3rd
Bonus prize money for facility records / Canadian records
Events: Men's and Women's

Cheers,

Andy.

Andy,

I emailed the contacts on the meet webpages over a week ago about wanting to compete and I have not heard anything back.

Can you lend me a hand?

I have left a message with Rob Connors at 250-744-5539 from the Victoria meet, asking for an update. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

BTW, the Victoria Meet's website is now www.trackclassic.com

Harry Jerome will not have a men's pole vault.

The Abbotsford International is still on. Are you interested in this one too, Kevin? This one is run by my club, so I could find out information more quickly about this one.

Cheers,

Andy.
