4.92 New Indoor World Record for Isinbayeva!

From the T&F News Message Board:

4.92m for Isinbayeva today at the Sergey Bubka Pole Vault Stars meet in Donyetsk, Ukraine.

Full results not yet available, but a source at the meet informed me that Kym Howe of Australia was 2nd in 4.72, a national and Commonwealth record (indoors or out).

Paul Burgess won the men's competition at 5.80. American Brad Walker was 4th.

DONETSK, Ukraine: Yelena Isinbayeva broke her own indoor world record in the women's pole vault Saturday, clearing 4.93 meters at the "Pole Vault Stars" event.

The 24-year-old Olympic and world champion bettered her previous record of 4.91 meters, set at this event last year.

Isinbayeva, who also holds the outdoor record of 5.01 meters set at the 2005 world championships, cleared the height on her third attempt.

It was the Russian's 20th world record.

Your news release and this Russian one both say 4.93 ... a two centimeter increase! :eek: ;)
