DJ,

Thanks for sharing that with everytone. Bubba Sparks sent me this very workout in 1999. Incidentally I had my best season that year. BTW: What do you think should be required from a fitness/strength standpoint before beginning something like this?

squats...cleans and some bodybuilding type sets and reps to develop muscle groups... design something your comforable with that still pushes you..

learn how to do a free-hip to a handstand.. on a highbar 5 feet from the floor ...with a pad of course

Hello pole vault power…

I want to continue this thread.. because I feel there is a lot about speed and the approach run that we can discus and improve on with just a little info and practice…

I am moving some of the comments I have made in other threads about speed and the approach run… in an effort for us to look at the whole picture..

Let me say this up front… in hopes of dispelling several “myths’ about speed…

NUMBER ONE!!! Stride length is NOT determined by LEG length>>>

That is the first and most important falsity.. greg d. (5-8) and mike t. (6-4) will have the same stride length if they are running the same speed.

Slower runners do spend more time on the ground than faster runners.. the air time is the same…

A fast foot strike creates more force.. Mass times Acceleration = force.. the direction of that “reboundâ€Â
