Back Issues

So I've been experiencing lower back pain more towards the left side that I think may have occurred due to being under. Has anyone experienced this before? What did you do to alleviate the pain?

Fixing your takeoff is a good way to get rid of the pain :)

Also, make sure to ice it after practice and take some time off or reduce the amount of vaulting you are doing. Go to a shorter run where you'll be less under and stressing your back less.

If the pain persists you should see a doctor. Lower back pain is complicated and can mean a lot of different things.

Tight psoas' can put strain on your lower back. Check youtube for "iliopsoas stretch". Can be massaged as well, but it's lying very deep (under the outer abdominals).

But RB is right. Being under is not optimal.

I've had this before, so did vault3rb0y; see viewtopic.php?f=30&t=20371#p144879

Mostly PT training for lower core strength and stretching for hip/leg flexibility helped me out.

Also; I'm still working on my takeoff to fix this problem. I took off way under yesterday and my back is killing me right now.

You could also find someone versed in M.A.T. techniques to "activate" your psoas. If you don't cry, I'd be surprised.

I still swear by my back-workout listed in this thread. -6P

^^I second what 6P said. I'm gonna start it again because I'm having problems. It worked like a charm the last time I was using it.

Thank you! I've been doing that core workout and we'll see how that goes. As for now, I've been going to the chiro and hopefully the pain will go away soon!

Had the same issue in the fall. I took of about 2 feet under and didnt notice anything right away and kept jumping. This caused it to get worse and i ended up going to a chiropracter for a couple weeks. Id definately say take some time off, fix your step and maybe see a chiropracter a couple times to relieve some stress from that area of the back.
