A friend, who high jumps, sometimes will practice with ankle weights on. Is this something I should do while practicing? It seems like it might help...

first thought that comes to mind is how dangerous this could be. Your run will be slower, and it will be more difficult to invert. I don't see how this could be helpful.

Just in case it is not clear...ABSOLUTELY DO NOT VAULT IN ANKLE WEIGHTS !!! Very Unsafe.

He shouldnt really even be high jumping with ankle wieghts. Do your ankle weights/ resistance/ speed bungee type work in an actual workout. When you vault, you want to simulate exactly what it will be like in a meet. Hopefully ya dont plan on wearing them in a meet too ;).

I do think ankle weights might help if you are doing leg lifts on a pull up bar or bubkas- if you dare to do so.

never use ankle weignts. Period.

They mess up your running form, form bad habbits, and strain muscles. Don't use wrist weights for the same reason. The only weights that are good (or OK, I should say) to use are weighted vests because it equally distributes more weight. It's like resistance runs witn a bungee or sled pulls.
