Yesterday at practice i was doing some short approach jumps from 6 lefts on a 15' 185 i took like 3 jumps on it was boomin over like 16' 9" for 3 jumps
then on the 4th jump, the pole broke between my hands and no where else, i wasnt pulling down or anything, i was just being tall at the take off and boom the pole snapped, what happened next was the best, the pole whipped across my fore arm and back bruising the crap out of it, while the other piece stabbed into my elbow and went in pretty deep, i did the awesome back flip and luckily pretty much landed on my feet ( no clue how ) and looked down and was bleeding all over the place out of my elbow, i had to get stiches in my arm and might not be able t compete this weekend, so im bummin since i have not had a stellar indoor season at all so far due to injuries and illness,

Has anyone had a pole break inbetween their hands and no where else. or a weird pole break experience and what do you think it was caused by

I've had a pole break between the hands. But, the jump before, I stalled out and rode the pole down sideways. I lost my balance and control in the air, so I spun around a bit, and in an attempt to regain control I threw my pole. It ended up underneith me somehow, and I landed on top of my pole near the top. It was the wierdest crash ever, too bad I didn't bad I didnt get it on tape. Anyway, the very next jump it broke between my hands and did a nice backflip into the pit.

so it wasn't really a freak accident, because we know how it happened. But I do know someone else that had it break there for no reason, and he thinks it was from hitting the standards with the pole

i think it was because the pole was old, it was in decent shape and all but it was still old, and i was just killin it at the take off, breaking poles suk, i always manage to get hurt when i break one too, its never a clean break

it was probably scratched or dinged. that is a very common place to get dings too. pole gets released and hits the standards or something like that

just be thankful it didn't obliterate your hands
