Saugatuck Pole Vault Clinic 2015 in Memory of Alan Launder

Unread postby grandevaulter » Fri Jun 19, 2015 1:51 pm

Hey folks, this years clinic July 12, 13 and 14th is in memory of Alan Launder aka Altius, he was the inspiration for this clinic. Where some of our guests may not teach the vault straight from his book or completely adhere to the P/B technical model, we look to make gains and remain open minded to successful coaching and performances.

Day one of this years Clinic features Coach Craig Dickinson of Port Huron Northern and camp counselor Mackenzie Shell. Mackenzie is one of the top three girl vaulters this year nationally and is the two time Michigan state champion and girls state record holder at 13′ 9″. She has signed with Oklahoma University. Craig Dickinson is a former All American at Tennessee and SEC 2 mile champion, he held the indoor 2 mile record at Tennessee. Coach Dickinson has worked with former Olympic Champion vaulter Timothy Mack and brings tremendous ideas from his track and field experience.

A side note: Mackenzie Shell is competing at the New Balance Nationals this weekend. We here back in Michigan wish her luck.

Thank you very much for the kind words PVstudent and thank you for continuing to contribute you knowledge that is found in the book that you and Alan co authored.

Day two is Phil Eichbauer and his former athlete, 2014 D-4 State Champion and record holder Curtis Bell. Phil attended Alan's 2008 Slippery Rock Clinic. Phil credits Alan and Roman and their influence on him for much of his coaching success. Phil coached the girls 2013 D-4 State champion and 2014 runner up. I look forward to hearing and seeing his demonstrations of the Petrov/Bubka technical model.

I expect that this clinic will be the best in Michigan this year. Dickinson and Eichbauer, one coach from the Tmack and one from Launder/Petrov, it should provide campers and coaches with valuable information and fun.
