Yeah, I watched it. And don't think I'm not going to refer to it when someone starts debating dj's chart. It really is amazing how they both leveled off at the same spot in their run. Later...............Mike

ladyvolspvcoach asked me to post this drawing and text for him. It supplements his previous posts on this topic.

It is important to realize that the drawing shows a configuration of run drills for a 13'7" grip.  However, the drills can be configured to accomodate any grip height.  I have provided a series of measurements for other hand grips. If coaches or athletes want a customized set of measurements for their specific hand grips I will be happy to provide that for them: 

Hand grip  First lane  Second Lane  Third lane  Fourth Lane

  11'1"      4'5"        4'6"         4'7"        4'9"
  12'0"      4'5"        4'7"         4'10"       5'1"
  12'10"     4'10"       5'1"         5'3"        5'6"
  13'5"      5'1"        5'3"         5'6"        5'9"
  14'0"      5'3"        5'6"         5'9"        5'11"

These drills are incredibly effective in developing a proper run-up.  If the proper pole management techniques are applied to these pole runs, your athletes will also begin to show the proper posture, pole carry, pole drop timing, plant and take-off timing.

first question

We usually use these at the start of our fall practices and do them religiously until competition starts in Jan. You should have your athletes to at least 5 -7 in each lane each practice..
