Definition of "crushing" the pole

Unread postby kmonty51 » Sun Jun 08, 2008 4:02 pm

Can someone tell me exactly what is meant by crushing the pole? I had always thought it meant overbending the pole; however, someone said that's not exactly correct. They said it means when a vaulter begins bending the pole while still in contact with the runway (which also could cause overbending, but overbending can happen other ways, as well).
