Vault too far in front of bar

Unread postby MirBaker97 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 6:02 pm

Hey, I have a problem that when I'm vaulting Im too far in front of the bar so I can't clear it. I try to stretch my body out but it still doesn't work. This is my first year vaulting and I'm on a 11'6, 130 pole right now
I just don't understand why I can't get closer to the bar.

You need to get your pole closer to vertical. It may be your grip height, your speed, low plant, or being under with your takeoff step.

Can't you just move your standards in?!

Yes, you can move the standards towards the box. The greater issues are your technique and your safety.

Get the pole to vertical. If you do, the standards will usually need to be more towards 80 cm.
