Where do you live?
If you are near Nova Gorica, go to Igor Lapajne (he coached Teja Melink, he is also coaching Anna Giordano Bruno). In Ljubljana: Martin Lorenci (Andrej Poljanec's coach), Slavko Černe (Tina Sutej's coach)

Jurij Rovan is my coach. I know Leopold too. I don't know if it's wrong or right but the extended left arm works for me. So far everyone I saw jumping good had the left arm extended. I'm very much confused :dazed:

lets not confuse tall both arms up - with locking out the bottom arm in front - one the front/bottom arm goes high over head - versus block lock where it trys to stay in front to initiate a bend (bad for swing) - how it 'appears" also has to do with length of pole and how high the top hand is at take-off - that is geometry

The pole bends due to the force applied THROUGH the top hand. The energy represented by your body mass in motion (which is why runway speed is important), will compress the pole when it hits the bottom of the box. When you swing (kick whip), will the centrifugal force of your swinging body (the center of that swing is your top hand) ADD to the forces that will bend the pole. Look at how the high bar reacts when gymnasts do giant swings. Blocking with the bottom arm will bend the pole, but will not put energy into the system. It will make it more difficult to swing, and this will reduce the energy input into the pole. The object is not to bend the pole, but to put the maximum amount of energy into the pole, and push the pole/vaulter system just beyond vertical. The pole bends naturally, if the pole is having the right specs for the energy input (stiffness and grip height).

When you check video's of jumpers: Is the bottom arm straight because the vaulter is pushing, or because the distance from shoulder to the bent pole (bent through the forces from the top hand) is equal to an arms length? Sure, some vaulters uses the bottom arm to force the bend, but it is detrimental to the energy input into the system.

Okay I hadn't had the slightest idea what you are talking about, until I watched the Brad Walker interview by NeoVault (http://www.neovault.com/video/interview-with-brad-walker). Then it all made sense to me. My thinking was kinda lost in translation. Thanks for clearing it out.

Everyone that pole vaults over 3 meters. I ment that you need to have the left arm in front of you when you plant and then keep it that way so the pole gets bent. I'm not saying that the left arm is literaly pushing forward. I haven't seen anyone jump 5 meters with their left arm behind their back. The left arm has just gotta be there to transfer the energy of the run to the pole. At least that's how I picture it.

This is so far out there that I almost suspect that this is a not a 14 year old from Slovenia but a practical joker taking us all along for a ride!

Look, I don't even care what you're saying anymore. I'm thinking it right I just don't know how to explain it. It works for me and i'm not a bad vaulter.
