Pole Question

Unread postby Jcnear » Thu Apr 30, 2009 7:28 pm

I have been pole vaulting for a couple of months now and have a few questions..

I weigh 130 lbs, but have been using a 140 lb pole. My form is pretty good, except that sometimes my right arm pulls in and makes me "stall", but it has not been happening much lately. I have cleared 8' 6'' and want to try and clear 10'' by the end of the season. I recently tried to use a 130lb pole, but I can not seem to control the bend. My form is decent, but I seem to lean back a bit.

So my question is, to achieve my goal height, should I continue to straight pole and just work my hand height up the pole, or would it be better to use the lower weight pole?
