The Oregon City High School senior clears 15-1 for a new school pole vault record in a meet at Mt. Hood Community College

GRESHAM – Friday was a history-making day for Jared Hippler.

The Oregon City High School junior set new school, school junior class and meet records in the pole vault, clearing 15-1 at the East County Classic, held at Mt. Hood Community College.

The best mark in the state by any high school athlete this season, the 15-1 vault bettered a school record set by Kevin Akers in 1988 by an inch. It also upped Oregon City’s junior class record, set by Jared’s brother Jack a year ago, at 14-7.
