this was one of the worst meets ive been to because of the officials
example a
-- Orrin Jarrett 11 Rockville DQ Use of camera
first of all he was on his cellphone so he could not have been taking a picture ,second, this was before anyone even jumped so theres no way he could be reviewing anything
also
STARTING HEIGHT 9'6" RAISE 6" INCREMENTS
starting height was supposed to be 9'6" because qualifying was 10 and its always been a height lower than qualifying, but the officials started it at ten anyway so many people no-heighted
also, i was yelled at for "having tape covering the label on the top of my pole" i measured how much of the tape was actually covering the label, it was exactly 1/8 of an inch at the spot where it was worst covering a piece of blank label, i dont see how having tape covering 1/8 of about 2 centimeters around could be something to be concerned about

they warned us ahead of time about the cell phone, ipod, camera use... they also said we couldnt role our shorts... that one was a first... the opening height thing, well thats weird but the official made that decision and you have to respect that... i dont agree with half the things some of them decide on... but what are you going to do right

No cell phones is a pretty standard rule at all levels of competition (but usually people are given a warning first).

If the Games Committee decided the opening height should be 9'6 and the officials on their own changed it to 10', the coaches should have protested.

I don't have the NFHS casebook with me, but I was reading it the other day, and I think it interpreted the max handhold rule as being the top of the label instead of the bottom, which was interesting because I had never heard of this before (which in your case could maybe mean you are right and they are wrong).

No shorts rolling is a big NFHS rule (they should have been enforcing that at all meets).
What are you going to do? If the officials make decisions that are inconsistent with NFHS rules and the decisions made by the Games Committee, your coaches can and should protest.
Encourage your coaches to bring copies of the NFHS rule book and case book with them to every meet. Read these books yourself (well the pole vault rules anyway) on the bus or something. Let your coaches know when these things happen so they can do something about it.
The example above about the officials starting at 10' is the main one above that should have been appealed if it really was supposed to be 9'6.

i potentially could've been going to opens and my team might not have lost the meet by 3 points if the starting height was 9'6" like it was supposed to be. that makes me pretty angry, but i guesss its too late for that now.

yea, you would be at opens, you've jumped 11'6" you would have been in the top 6 you are one of my prime examples of the officials mistakes hurting CT

thanks. i'm glad I'm not the only one that sees it that way. unlike my coach who was the meet director and called me stupid for no-heighting
