Hello. I have been looking into this camp. I was looking for some testimonials about this camp and one of my fellow vaulters informed me that this camp barely features Laurence Johnson and he barely got any vaulting time due to the excessive number of vaulters. I was just wondering if this is the case because I would love to be coached by Lawrence Johnson. Thank you.
Your only as good as your last jump.

Hi, I went to this camp last summer and the summer before, and I will be going back this summer. It is a big camp and there are a lot of vaulters (three pits run simultaneously based on skill level). Therefore, LoJo couldn't spend all day with every vaulter, but he did instruct the group as a whole during some drills off of the runway, and he did specifically critique several of my jumps over the course of the weekend. He's a great guy, and I think the highlight of the camp was actually getting to talk to him and ask questions more than having him coach my jumps.

That being said, there are several other extremely qualified coaches who are there to coach the vaulters at each pit. Those are the guys that you spend most of the weekend with, and they're great. Coach Pascuzzo already listed their credentials above, but it really doesn't express the benefit that having a few new sets of eyes on your vault.

Also, you get PLENTY of vault time. It's a long, hot weekend, so if we spend the whole time doing full jumps we'll get too tired and not benefit at all. They fill the time with helpful drills that are less tiring, and they take time to make sure you're learning and doing them correctly.

Overall, it's a great time. The kids are all great. There are really no egos or anything like that at all. PM me if you want to hear more. Hope to see you there!

Hi,
These comments are directed at the TWO posters above this post.
The gentleman who "heard" that Lawrence Johnson barely coached is
waaaay off base, as the other poster, who HAS attended the Camp,
stated.
This Camp features FOUR Runways and SIX Coaches, whom I've
described in detail above. ALL Campers will be coached by ALL of
our Coaches, as we rotate around to expose all the Campers to the
various perspectives and coaching techniques of our incredible Staff.
Lawrence Johnson actually stayed 90 minutes LATE last year, as he
was making huge progress with some Campers and didn't want to stop.
THAT is the type of commitment by our Staff that has allowed the 21st
Annual "On The Road" Track & Field World Tour to remain as the Premier
Track & Field Camp in the World! In fact, we were recently ranked as the
#2 Pole Vault Camp in the World in a worldwide survey taken by Essx Poles!
If your "friend" had a disappointing experience, it doesn't necessarily
mean there is something wrong with the Camp. It sounds like your friend
"may" have had an unrealistic expectation as to how the Camp would be
formatted. Obviously, we want ALL Campers to enjoy time with our Staff,
and this does NOT allow for an overly "private" session with any particular
Staff member.
In closing, please don't hesitate to contact me directly should you have
any questions and/or require more info.
