Vaulter Jenn Stuczynski Signs Pro Contract w/ adidas
BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 25, 2006) – Pole vault phenom Jennifer Stuczynski will be managed by Boston-based Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., and has signed a multi-year contract to compete for adidas, according to Mark Wetmore, president of GA&M.
Jenn Stuczynski burst onto the track-and-field scene a year ago when, as an unknown who had been vaulting for less than a year, she won the national title at the 2005 USA Indoor Championships. Since then, the 24-year-old who lives and trains in Rochester, N.Y., has become the #2 all-time American indoors behind only Stacy Dragila, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist and American record-holder. Her personal best of 15 feet, 4.25 inches was set on Jan. 14, making her the #4 woman in the world for 2006. Of the top 15 marks in the world this year, Stuczynski owns five.
Stuczynski is coached by Rick Suhr of Suhr Sports in Rochester.
A 2005 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, Stuczynski was the 2005 NAIA indoor national champion in the pole vault. An all-around athlete, she also graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer in basketball.
Stuczynski will defend her US indoor title tomorrow (Sunday) at the AT&T USA Indoor Championships in Boston.
