Sponsorship

Can anyone out there give me a good reason as to why Elite vaulters , or track & field athletes in general, can only be sponsored by one organization?
What's the downside to being sponsored by a number of different groups and organizations like nascar does? Logos everywhere!
When and how, did this single sponsorship rule start?
I'm not sure about off the track, but i'm talking about during competitions on uniforms, where sponsors get public exposure.
I think the idea that Mr. Fraley had at Reno was perfect. That'd be awesome to see some of the top dogs in the country wearing uniforms that paralleled those of nascar drivers! (not all padded and flame retardent of course)
I think that there might be a little bit of an increase on the number of elite athletes in the country as well. More vaulters will be able to focus alot more on jumping and training. Don't get me wrong, i'm not forgetting about getting an education...I think this might also increase the level of competition in the country. We could possibly see more like 10 - 20 vaulters jumping at consistent high heights rather then the norm of about 5 - 10.
Who's to say? This could all be just a bunch of jibba jabba. Just some things i've been thinking about. Anyone, please respond with your opinion on the matter...
