Just heard Jenn tried AR 3x . They said it was the first time she took a full run and she was healthy. Also heard it was 105 degrees! Waiting for the mens results....

That's awesome! Jenn looked pretty banged up at the Olympic Trials, I am excited to see that she is getting better so quickly.

Riga's Jenn Suhr takes over world lead

Staff and wire reports

Riga's Jenn Suhr is back on top of the women's pole vaulting world after clearing 15-10 at the Gill Field Fest in Champaign, Ill. Saturday.

The jump takes the world lead, passing the 15-8 vault by Brazil's Fabiana Murer earlier this season.

Suhr, the No. 1 ranked women's pole vaulter in the world, heads to London for the Olympics in about two weeks. Suhr's previous best this season was 15-1 when she qualified for the Olympic team two weeks ago in Eugene, Ore.

"We wanted to get in a meet where I could relax and test my full run," Suhr said. "It was nice to go somewhere where there was not as much pressure and I could just go out and have fun."

Jenn Jumps Again
July 9, 2012 - 1:31 PM | 0 comments
Evidently, Jenn Suhr is recovering nicely from the quad injury that hampered her at the Olympic Trials. Last weekend, Suhr cleared 15-10 at the Gill Field Fest in Champaign, Ill, giving her the best women's vault in the world this year. Two weeks earlier, while nursing a Grade 2 tear of her right quadriceps, Suhr had won the Trials and a return trip to the Olympics with a jump of 15 feet, 1 inch.
"I feel pretty good," Suhr said Monday by phone from her home near Rochester. "I took a full run in (Champaign). I wasn't used to running at that speed. I was healthy and running faster than normal. The box looked like a blur. It was nice to open up my legs and run."

Suhr had taken a shorter run on her vault at the Trials in Eugene, Ore., two weeks earlier. She passed to 14-11 in Eugene and cleared it on her second try. After making 15-1 on her first attempt, she didn't jump again. Suhr attempted to break her American record of 16-1 1-2 in Illinois, but didn't succeed.
Rick Suhr, her husband and coach, said Jenn is 95 percent healthy and will be ready for the Games in London. The women's pole vault qualifying will be held on Aug. 4 in London. The finals are Aug. 6.
"We're on target," Rick Suhr said. "She's almost healed. I don't know if we'll continue to get treatment. It was the first time she took a full run since she got hurt. We're happy with it."

As far as Jenn attempting an American Record, it never would have been ratified if she had cleared it (though it would have been great if she had anyway!).

USATF rule 264-4 says
The construction of the runway, landing area and/or throwing circle used shall
comply with the specifications listed. Indoor Records may be set on runways
and circles of wooden composition. Other records may not

So is there no provision for outdoor records on raised runways even if they have been surveyed?

What about the reverse, can an indoor record be set on a runway that is not elevated?

Within USATF rules, that is correct. It is rare that elites are attempting outdoor records on boards, but it comes up fairly often for masters.

Yes indoor records can be set on "normal" runways.

Is there a reason he wouldn't...as in an injury?
