Hutson clears! Jenn passes her remaining two attempts. That is an outdoor PR for Hutson.

So bar to 4.70... Hutson is passing! She must not think Jenn is going to clear.

Suhr misses and finishes in second place with a jump of 4.60. WHICH I TOTALLY CALLED ON THE T&FN MESSAGE BOARD haha.

Hutson can jump whatever height she wants now.

ISU’s Kylie Hutson wins pole vault at U.S. competition
Staff Report
The Tribune-Star

EUGENE, Ore. — Kylie Hutson continued to add to her resume in the pole vault on Sunday at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the Terre Haute North graduate and former Indiana State star won the competition with an outdoor personal-best 15-feet-3.

The height is an American best this season and the third-best in the world. The four-time NCAA champion is now a USA champion and will compete with Team USA at the 2011 World Championships Aug. 27-Sept. 4 in Daegu, Korea.

Another former Sycamore, Erica Moore, was sixth overall in a personal-best 2:00.17 in the finals of the women’s 800 meters.

Indiana State junior Major Clay, who has been battling tendinitis, placed 16th in the men’s high jump at 7-1⁄2.

“Kylie did an amazing job today,” said ISU women’s coach Angie Martin. “As usual in big meets she kept her focus and jumped very well to earn her spot on the world championship team.”

Hutson cleared the winning height on her first attempt and did not have any misses until she attempted 15-7. Jennifer Suhr finished in second at 15-1 with Lacy Janson third at 14-9.

Hutson won four straight NCAA championships as a Sycamore and was a five-time All-American. She holds the Indiana State and Missouri Valley Conference records in the event. She jumped a personal best 15-5 indoors during the 2011 Vault at the Mall, which was a part of the Drake Relays.

Suhr has been the top-ranked American pole vaulter since 2006, winning 10 national championships. She set the American outdoor record of 16-11⁄2 in winning the Olympic Trials in 2008 and went on to win a silver medal at the Beijing.

n Notes — Hutson is the first Sycamore since high jumper Steve Smith to make Team USA. Smith made the world indoor team and the Pan Am team in 1995. Holli Hyche was an alternate in 1993 but did not go …
