Mossberg misses his third and is out. So is Hollis.

Everything comes down to this one attempt by Brad Walker. If he clears, we have three A standard guys on the team. If he misses, Mossberg will have about a month to chase after the B standard (5.60) to try and make the team. Hollis could chase the A standard, but I think if Mossberg gets the B standard he would be on the team.

If Walker does clear, I think Hollis would officially be the alternate, I wonder if Mossberg could still chase the B standard to move into the alternate spot?

Jeremy Scott misses his first attempt at 5.66m. It sounds like Brad is up... of course they do not show it... huge gasp from the crowd, it sounds like it was close but a miss.

Ok, can someone explain to me what the hell just happened?

Is Brad Walker some kind of crazy person or what? What could possibly be gained by passing at the lower height? He's obviously the top vaulter in the US lately, but his decision making and consistency is very questionable.

Have we EVER had someone who doesn't have even a B standard make it into a World Champs qualifying spot?

Miles makes 5.66 on his second attempt to take the lead! Jeremy Scott has one attempt left. Great showing by the crew from Jonesboro (OK I know Miles doesn't live there anymore, but he still counts).

He had little to gain by making 5.54 on a third attempt, other than giving him more attempts at the next height. I didn't see any of his jumps, but I am guessing the height of the bar was not the issue.

Jeremy Scott passes his third attempt and the bar goes to 5.72. Both vaulters jumped this height in May, but indoors, neither have jumped it outdoors this year.

Little to gain???

This is a berth at the world championship we are talking about here...say what you will about vaulter's missing or underperforming, but the fact remains that if you don't clear it, height of the bar is an issue.

Does he not have a money pole that he can make 18 feet on all day every day, and maybe get into a rhythm for the rest of the competition? What is this guy doing to just blow a world championship spot like this after jumping 5.84 not a month ago?

Webcast coverage was very, very disappointing.
