PV Power Member Earns Trip to Budapest (USATF Results)

Unread postby rainbowgirl28 » Sat Feb 28, 2004 7:02 pm

Edit: I fixed this since the official USATF results seem to be wrong.

Being a member of PoleVaultPower.com brought good luck today to Toby Stevenson and Russ Buller. They placed 1st and 3rd, earning Toby a trip to World Indoors in Budapest.

PV Power members Tye Harvey and Dean Starkey got 10th and 15th with 5.50 and 5.30 respectively.

Congratulations guys! :star:

Hmm here are the results from Gus... and this matches what they said on TV... and they make sense, because I assume Jeff would not have passed at 5.80 if he was behind on misses (and cared about going to World's)

1 Toby Stevenson 5.80 19'00.25" =PR
2 Jeff Hartwig 5.75 18'10.25"
3 Russ Buller 5.75 18'10.25"

7 Jim Davis 5.60 18'04.50"
8 Derek Miles 5.60 18'04.50"
9 Justin Norberg 5.60 18'04.50" PR

So it looks like Hartwig is on the team instead of Buller. The formchart shows both took two attempts at 5.75 but Hartwig cleared 5.70 on his first while it took Buller 3. I think they counted Jeff's pass wrong or something.

The results on the USATF site still show Russ as getting second. If you look at the misses, you can clearly see he got third.

Well it looks like the AP was looking at the USATF results...

Toby's antics sound so much less amusing when described by the IAAF.

Stevenson puts on show in Pole Vault

In the men's Pole Vault, Toby Stevenson gained as much applause for his winning clearance of 5.80m as for his celebratory theatrics, which included a robotic dance and straddling his pole as if riding a horse on his winning jump.

Russ Buller placed second at 5.75m. Jeff Hartwig was third at 5.75m after a third-attempt miss at 5.85m after having the bar raised after two misses at 5.80m.
