Still looking for 13'+females/ and 17'+ males to attend vault exhibition on feb. 21 at the Simplot Games in Pocatello, ID. Over 5000 people will be watching. This will be a good place to get a big mark with a huge croud behind you.

Guess your not interested. Do you mean that it has changed for better or for worse? I'd like to think that jumping in front of 5000+ track fans (mostly highschool track athletes) is a good thing.

I guess these days if you jump 17' or better you expect to be paid to vault at an event like this. It's a shame. It's hard to find good people who just love to jump for the fans these days, and not worry about there own wallets.

Simplot is a great event. Fantastic atmosphere. I encourage anyone who has never been to attend.

This year I think the timing is hurting the event. The week before USATF and it is a long way from Idaho to Boston.

I think your missing the point. Its something you can't do if your a professional. Granted, you souldn't get paid for 17 or 13, it just too low, but you don't go for free when the other group is getting paid for something comprable. You bring down the price for the whole group. Yea, it may be a great place and atmosphere, but its very expensive trip for someone to go jump. This isn't an attack, just my opinion. I know what alot of the emerging elite guys deal with being from around here. LON

Thank you Lon. Typically, I express such opinions on this site and immediately I'm attacked. So, I'm glad you said it first. You're right, 13 or 17 is too low for things to be paid for. But, if you are paying for the women and not the men, it just doesn't seem right. When did a 13 foot vaulter become more interesting for fans, than someone jumping 17 feet? Is it when the element of sex became involved? (I'm not exactly talking about the gender). Regardless, you are having trouble getting men in the event because they are being treated as SECOND CLASS ATHLETES.
Trust me, I love watching the women vault; in addition, they saved many high school programs by being able to compete in the vault back in the 90's. But my point still stands, emerging elite men will continue to feel slighted when events like the Simplot Games keep treating us like . . . well I've said it before.

I'd be there in a heart beat if I had the cash, but funds are low so I'm stuck driving to meets, and I don't think I could make the drive from Tucson to Pocatello in one afternoon. Maybe if I had a lamborgini or something, but again then I would have the money and I'd just fly.

lets look at it this way.................. 13 feet = 83% of the of the average of the womens indoor and outdoor world record and 17 feet = 84% of the average of the mens indoor and outdoor WR. Using this info a 17 foot male is better (should be more marketable) than a 13 foot female. The Equal male to a 13 foot female would be a 16'10" jump OR the equal female to a 17 foot male would be a 13'2" jump.
