It seems to me that two of the three hot favorites always makes it, one bombs out and a complete surprise makes it...

Walker is going to be tough to beat, that is a given I think. I think that Tim is coming on strong at the right time, and third could be a lot of people, Tommy, Derek, Mark Hollis...any of those guys... but I think Derek's experience in big meets will prevail.

On the girls side, Dragila, Jenn and Jillian Schwartz... as always--the Bell people know how to jump well when it's on the line..

I'm liking the Walker, Mack, Miles combo as well.

Now that qualifying is done... what do people think for finals?

Prelims were rough. I'd say the surprise for me was Buller. I hadn't seen him compete all year but the guy is on it. He blew through twice in warm ups and looked world class at 5.50. Walker and Mack look typical with little or no need to many vaults to get 5.80+. Miles, Pauli, Hartwig are contenders. Guys from my class: Jeff Ryan and Gensic are looking solid and in a position to get 5.70. Fellow Illini and Norberg rattled a bar but is in it.

How I see it:

Walker to win and shake the world record.
Mack to be in a close second

3rd is up for grabs
Who wants it the most and who is going to first attempt 5.70
