POLE VAULT CLINIC

November 25 - 27

Vaulters, get ready for Indoor Season! New Heights Gym Track Club is hosting a pole vaulting clinic with collegiate coaches Doug Fraley from Tulane University, Lon Badeaux from ULL, Eddie Seese from Arizona, and New Heights Gym track coach Shane LeLeux.

With indoor season starting in January, this will be a great opportunity to not only jump indoors, but also introduce correct vaulting techniques and gymnastics to the vaulters. The clinic will discuss technique, vault drills, strength, flexibility, and video tape evaluations. The goal of the whole clinic is to match the correct run, pole, and grip height to each vaulter’s ability.

We will have a selection of poles on hand; but if the vaulter has access to poles, please bring them to the clinic. Only flats or waffles allowed – no spikes indoor! Weather permitting, spikes allowed outdoor.

The clinic will be broken up into three sessions:

Day 1 – Friday, November 25
5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Alignment Jumping (zero, two, and four steps)
Dinner after session

Day 2 – Saturday, November 26
9:00 AM – Noon Pole Vaulting (ten steps or run), Video 3 – 4 Jumps
Noon – 1:00 PM Lunch at gym
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM Pole Vault and Run Mechanics
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Video Review
7:00 PM Dinner

Day 3 – Sunday, November 27
9:00 AM – Noon Pole Vaulting (ten steps or run)

The cost for the clinic is $150/person. All vaulters must have current USATF membership. The Registration Deadline is November 18. After November 18 the cost of the clinic will $175. It is suggested to bring about $60 for food, drinks, and snacks. The gym will be available for overnight stay, so bring pillows and blankets.

For more information, contact Shane LeLeux at 337-359-7314 or 337-365-3806.
