New Texas Girls HS Record

Unread postby lonestar » Fri Mar 07, 2003 2:18 am

Britni Lawrence of Hays Consolidated and Lone Star Pole Vaulting jumped 12'0 to win a meet at Burger Stadium in Austin today. This makes Britni the new state record holder and first girl Texan over 12'0. The previous record of 11'9 was set by Desiree Hill of Arlington Bowie and TexasPoleVault in 2002.

Britni took 3 shots at 12'2, blowing through her 13'150 19.5 Mystic Carbon on the first 2 attempts, switching to a standard Mystic 19.0 for her third which proved to be a little too stiff. She had plenty of room to spare on her 12' jump though, and is now looking for 13' by the end of the season.

Thanks for the support, however, there's more news:

Britni's record didn't even last 24 hours, as 2 other Lone Star Pole Vaulters broke it the next day:

Lacey Smith of Cedar Park High School (senior) vaulted 12'4 to overtake the record from teammate Danielle Dorsey(junior) who cleared 12'1 at a meet in Round Rock today.

That makes 3 Lone Star PV girls over 12' and leading the great state.

Also, 2 Lone Star sophomore girls, Laura Koenig and Kayla Konomos of New Braunfels High School vaulted 11' at the Maverick Relays at McNeil High School today. That's a new pr for Konomos up from 10'6, and Koenig cleared 11'11/4 a week earlier.

5 Lone Star girls over 11', and only one is a senior!
