2 New 10'0 8th grade girls!

Unread postby lonestar » Fri Mar 05, 2004 11:52 pm

At a Jr. High meet today in Lockhart,TX, 2 of my 8th grade girls both jumped 10'0 for new pr's and meet records.

Bailey Holmes of Barton Jr. High in the Hays District (Buda, TX) jumped 10'0 on her first attempt to win. Bailey is about 5'6 100lbs and was capping an 11' 120 Mystic from 12 steps. Her previous meet pr was 7'6 from last year. Unfortunately she needed more grip and was out of pole at 10'6.

Jessica Doyle of Dahstrom Jr. High, also in the Hays School District (Buda) also jumped 10'0 on her 3rd attempt to take 2nd. Jess is about 5'2 120lbs and was gripping 11'5 on a 12'4 132 Essx from 12 steps, blowing through, then moved up to 10 steps and blew through there as well. It was the biggest pole we had with us, so she blew through at 10'6. Her previous meet pr is 9'0 from AAU last summer, although she cleared a 10'3 bar at Earl Bell's camp in December.

In 3rd was Dominique Robles of Dahlstrom Jr. High with a jump of 8'6, capping a 10' 100 Altius. Dom is about 4'10 and weighs about 90lbs, and almost had 9'0 gripping 10'3 on an 11'6 92 Essx on her 3rd attempt. Her previous meet pr was 7'0 from last spring.

Watch out for these little prodigies this year and in the next 4 years as Britni Lawrence will graduate this spring and pass the torch onto them at Hays High!

Kris, Great Job! Congratulations to all of you. For a female to jump her grade + 2ft it is a rare feat indeed.

Grade + 2ft =

Any chance they will be moving to South Carolina? ;) LOL

LOL - Nice try Rusty! No way I'm letting go of these little gals - they're the future of my club and of Texas girls pole vaulting! We'd love to have a little competition from y'all southeasterners though!

In the Netherlands we had this indoor season the first tree lady's at the age of 13 who jumped over 10'0.

3.22 meter Femke Klop 1.4 mb

3.10 meter Leonie Schilder 2.7 mb

3.05 meter Denise Groot

In Germany Natasha Brenner jumpt last summer already 3.70 meter.
