I have a dream of learning to vault. I did a tiny bit of vault in high school, and did other track events, but am now 31 and want to earnestly give vaulting a try. Does anyone know of ways I could try out vaulting in Sacramento? This could be a singular coach, a program, a camp, individuals who might have connections. Any ideas are welcome! Thank you in advance.

Try the Pacific Association USATF website for USATF clubs that offer pole vaulting in the Sacramento area. I believe Kurt Roth has a club at Granite Bay HS. If not I am sure there are others. (www.pausatf.org ....... click into clubs)
Check with the contact names listed for each club to find out about pole vaulting and if they are willing to work with beginners. Most are very accommodating in this regard.

Good Luck

Exactly where do you live and work? And where did you vault in HS?

vault MD - I live and work in midtown, Sacramento. I went to high school at Petaluma High School but only tried vaulting a number of times. I did other track events including jumps and sprints in high school and college.

fly right - thank you!

Hey there! I actually used to vault with a guy who is a masters vaulter from Petaluma. His name is Bruce Hoteling (SP?) I believe he was involved it was the north coast vaulting club. I haven't been in years but he might be able to hook you up with someone who is coaching now. Good Luck!
