Blaze at high school arson, officials say

November 7, 2003

A fire that swept through Simi Valley High School's stadium last month was an arson, fire officials said Thursday.

Ventura County Fire Department Chief Investigator Keith Mashburn said no arrests have been made but authorities have several leads in connection with the Oct. 18 fire that ruined the football stadium press box and sound system. It caused $265,000 in damage.

The blaze occurred as faculty members and students were decorating for the school's homecoming dance scheduled for later that night. It burned through aluminum bleachers before spreading to the press box, where it destroyed the sound system. It also destroyed expensive pole vault mats.

lol...last thing they put on there...it's like they don't even care... it's "oh, we almost forgot...they destroyed some pole vaults too, whatever they are"

lol...but that's sad...I somehow doubt that they'll be getting new mats anytime soon... :(
