I heard there was a mixup on the Jumpoff for first? Something about the official not know ing the procedures.
Anyone know anything?

Rick -

Here's what happened: Both Anandae (Lakeside) and Zoe (Seattle Academy) cleared 10'6 on their 3rd attempt, but each missed at 11'0. When the official checked his score sheet, he saw that Zoe missed twice on 9'6 (her opening height) and Anandae once at 9'6. However, since he had 2 pages to his scoresheet, he didn't count Anandae's miss at 8'6. Thus, he declared Anandae the winner. Zoe's coach and I looked at my score sheet and just assumed that I had not recorded a miss because we had it correct. When asked to see his scoresheet, he declined so we couldn't verify.

About 2:00 pm (competition started at 10:00am), the WIAA announced to have a Lakeside and Seattle Academy coach come to the appeal's tent (as you know, never a good thing). They told us that there was a scoring error and we'd have to have a jump-off. We settled for after the 1B boys got done which was around 2:30 pm w/ 15 minutes of runway warm-up time.

Around 3:00 pm, we started back up again. Zoe and Anandae both missed at 11'0. Zoe and Anandae both made 10'9. Zoe and Anandae both missed 11'0. Zoe missed 10'9 and Anandae made it! That concluded the 5+ hour competition.
