What pole for a new guy?

I'm 56 and want to get back into vaulting again. I last vaulted in high school in 1974. I've been in touch with some local (CO for me) Masters athletes and have an idea on how to get going again in the sport.

But, I have NO IDEA about a pole for me. I'm 5'9" and only about 145 lbs. I'm pretty quick but not the strongest guy though. Don't know anything about brands, lengths, flexes, etc.

Suggestions on where to start?

Thanks. Mike

The best thing would be to start by borrowing a pole that will not bend. What size that is depends a lot on your speed and technical ability, but it's not terribly important the exact size. It's practically impossible to guess for a masters vaulter what the right size pole will be until you've been vaulting again for awhile.

If you had a buy a pole right now I would say get a 13'150, the brand doesn't matter, but poles are expensive, and you're really best off waiting until you've had some practices first.
